Branson Bulletin Newsletter October

October is a time of transition here in Branson. The summer events taper off and the Ozark Mountain Country turns into a painters pallet with all the beautiful fall colors. Folks come from near and far to see this beautiful season and all it has in store. The bus tours all tout the fall color trips to Branson Missouri and the Ozark Mountain Country.

The camping season is soon being left to the enclosed campers and they continue to come to take part in the great shows and fishing is still great. Many fall fishing contests continue to operate.

Fall also appeals to all the hunting enthusiasts. We have great fall Turkey and Deer hunting and most locals take in this great sport and especially enjoy it and all the fall colors. At the end of October many of the famous Branson Missouri Shows close down for a couple of weeks and during that time all the Christmas Shows are planned, prepared for, with all the great stage effects, for the Christmas Season, and all the great Christmas Season music is chosen, practiced and added to the shows. Silver Dollar City closes and finishes all the Christmas decorations that have won them national recognition. Their grounds took the number one trophy by the national theme parks associations. The Opera house at Silver Dollar City is transformed into the great British street scene for the play "Dickens Christmas Carol" and all the other Ozark Mountain Country Christmas shows that fill all their theater stages during this great and beautiful fall season.

Two pieces of information started to spread between the shows and the local folks. These rumors are that the long time Branson Missouri show known as "Country Tonight" will close at the end of the fall season. The other is also hard to take as well and that is that the Roy Rogers Museum will close in December and the Non Profit Foundation that owns all the Roy Rogers memorabilia has decided to put everything up for auction to raise money to help pay debts and fund their work.

My wife Marilyn and I went to the Roy Rogers theater and spent hours there looking at the huge collection of Roy Rogers artifacts that will soon to thrown to the winds and scattered all over the world. I can't help it how it must be heart braking for the family to see this happen but the business downturn has taken this decision out of their hands. We enjoyed the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans show put on by their son Dusty Rogers and his Son Rusty Rogers. This was a very enjoyable show with a great cowboy band and a lady singer who did solo's as well as Roy and Dale Duets with Dusty. After the show the stars came down to the floor level and gave a nice talk and answered all the questions that folks had and then everyone moved out into the Shop to buy souvenirs and to have them signed by the family members. I have known Rusty Rogers for a number of years and I always enjoy visiting with him and his family. You can read about the show at the Roy Rogers Show page at this link. We were informed that the Roy Rogers show and cast are trying to continue performing in Branson at probably a different theater.

Many of the locals and show Stars have indicated that they hoped the "Country Tonight" performers will find work in other shows as they are all great talents.

Well time goes on and we all face changes in our life's and we only hope you can get to Branson and see these great attractions before they close this fall. Roy Rogers Show page at this link.
