Ricky Boen and Texas Mud are really Texas swing at it's finest. Texas swing is really dance music where someone sings vocals with harmony in the background. Ricky is not only a vocalist but in 1983 he was designated World Champion Fiddler and with the Texas Swing group they won the coveted Will Rogers Award named the Western Swing Group of the Year by Academy of Western Artists in 2001. Ricky's dad Darrell Boen on vocals and guitar, Mark Boyd on guitar and vocals, Rodney Smith is half the twin fiddles, Casey Robertson on drums, Mark Abbott on upright bass and Dave Musgrave on steel guitar. In 2008 they had 10 year old Brooke Hale as a vocalist and added Ida Clare as female comedian. You will just love old Ida she is fun-er than a toothless dog in the hen house.
Marilyn and I just had a chance to take in the show the other day and we met the whole family and they are just great down home country folks.
